On my table

Caramel Banana Cake with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting :)

I was thinking of taking this cake to Book Club to share but I don't think it is going to make it that far - I love cream cheese frosting :)

The book this month was "A little Princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett and I loved it... I have only seen the movie and that was a long time ago. The book was great.

Here are some questions I thought up for us to discuss tonight - hope they aren't spoilers.

Do you love your parents as much as Sara? share examples, Do you identify or not with her love for them

Do you have any bad school experiences like Sara's or any teachers that may have been like Miss Minchpin?

Discuss friendship : Sara's best friends were Becky and Ermengard and in a way Lottie. Do you have friends like this? Sara was probably a better friend to them - What can we learn from Sara's example of friendship, giving, kindness, loyalty?

Has a received Kindness (Like the Large Boy giving Sara at sixpenny) changed your life as Sara's was? She didnt spend the money but from that moment on she thought/felt differently

Has a miracle happened in your life like Sara's neighbours being the ones who were looking for her?

Have you had a time of trial/endurance (like sara) and how did your faith/determination get you through?

Do you have a special angel (Like Ram Dass is to Sara) in your life? Ram Dass made the attic very special for Sara and cared for her, got her clothes and food. How can we be like Ram Dass?

What can we learn from the ending, that things may not be as they seem - Miss Minchpin treated sara very differently when she was rich then when she was poor. Also it seemed all was lost with the diamond business which then turned around.. how can we not judge situations or people? How can we have hope?

have a good weekend
