Last weeks challenge from Unplug your Kids was TREES. I like these ones - a Noun makes it so much easier for me.
Of course we climbed some Trees
I was sick during the week and while I rested (ignored the children)they turned a lovely patch of grass into mud!! (arrrggghh) so since I trying to "live in the moment" instead of getting angry, I suggested they make toilet roll and tissue paper trees, to go with their mud!
And lastly for a quiet sunday activity I suggested they make a Family Tree. I printed off family photos and we put them in order. Child, parents, grandparents, great grandparents. We have family history that goes even further and even have some photos of great great greats, but they aren't organised, and I need to get some photos from my mother in law (I know you are reading mum - so if I could have some photos on a disk that would be great ;)

Love the toilet paper/tissue trees in the mud :) Sometimes it's just better to turn a boo boo into something good *grin*. I would love to do a family tree with my kids, I'm going to have to put this on my project list :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I never thought of doing a "family tree", I wish I had. I may fall back on this tomorrow, at least for a discussion. Thanks for the great idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea. I hadn't thought of doing a family tree but i wish I would have. I may have to use this tomorrow, at least for discussion purposes. Thanks for the great idea.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think of a family tree, either. Great idea! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI need to get more of our shoebox of pictures scanned into the computer so we could do a family tree with pictures! Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job. Way to have fun with the mud. I love the little trees.
ReplyDeleteI like the toilet paper trees in the mud! Way to go with the flow. :) Family trees were a great idea too.
ReplyDeleteI like the chart...I have a treemaker program that can do that, and I will do that soon. I went with a less formal family tree idea, but I'm a bit obsessed with genealogy so they'll get the formal stuff soon enough!

Yet another use for old toilet paper rolls! Love it! We should make a list of all the things we use t hem for.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for living in the moment. That is my goal right now and I have had some wonderful moments because of it. M
Love your new look in here. That picture is really great of you too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun and natural way to spend the day together. Love it. The mud rocks.
What a great way to take the tree idea with the family tree. Way to go.
ReplyDeleteI love how you made a PHOTO family tree! I do genealogy and was going to do some family tree work with my daughter, but we didn't get around to it. Anyway, I love your photo tree!
ReplyDeleteGood job tolerating the mud!
ReplyDeleteTheir little trees are really cute.:)
thanks for looking at our tree house. We used two trees in the back for posts, and then used two big posts in the ground for the other two. The kids have been begging for a tree house fr ages. My son has all sorts of plans... trap doors, a pulley system, etc. I should have posted more pics, but I wasn't sure how to do it all, and I didn't want to work up a huge post and not figure out how to link etc... :)
ReplyDeleteI love what you did!! :)
We go to Australia to visit all my family in a week and a half... I'm from Perth, but my parents live in Cairns at the moment, so we'll be splitting our time between Perth and Cairns.
Thanks for stopping by!
