Ok.. so I promised I wouldn't talk about Christmas (from my Christmas in July Posts) until November... WHOOPS.. Oh well..
This is what I have been busily making all week (plus 2 others for some other ladies from church) Felt Shapes to go with The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
My girls love this book, but we only ever get it from the library. I remembered these felt shapes from an activity about two years ago. So I bought the book last week for them for Christmas and got the pattern from a friend to make them this week.
Basically the children can hold them while reading the book, or if you have a felt board they could set the story up on that. Eg... "On Monday the Hungry caterpillar ate through one apple, On Tuesday he ate through two pears" and they find the shapes that match.
To punch the holes through I borrowed a metal hole punch that you hit with a hammer and it makes a hole, I sure there are other ways you could do it.
One Present down... Many more to go :)
I leave you with this quote I found today - which I need to remind me during the giving season
"The less a toy does, the more a child learns"

I've always wanted to do the hungry caterpillar felty things to go with the book. They use those at the library.
Love the quote too!
LOVE YOUR QUOTE! Can I put it on my blog! SO TRUE. This is what I have always believed.
I am a very hungry caterpillar today. You did such a lot of work and so worth the finished product. m
Hello new friend! That is so cute. I think I might try it for my nephew as my kids are getting a bit old now. We went through 3 Hungry Caterpillar books...the soft cover one only lasted a couple of months!
Great job! O has lost interest in her felt board. Maybe I should try to make these...
