STICKY -

I think everyday is a sticky day at my place!! So I knew the challenge from Unplug Your Kids wasn't going to be difficult to achieve!!

I spent the week thinking of various "sticky" things we could do... we attempted about 4 different things - Sticky was our theme for the week when it came to art and craft. About 2 of these turned out well enough to be shown here.

Heres what we did:

Made Marshmallows
Now this was definately STICKY - In the process of whipping, pouring, licking fingers, cutting, eating.... my girls had about 3 baths - Sorry about the quality of the photos we seem to be doing our craft in the late afternoon and being winter the sun is gone - but perfect timing for this messy activity - close to bathtime!!
Measure out ingredients - Sugar, Water, Gelatin Start Whipping Whip Some More Whip some MORE And we got tired, so set it up to Whip itself Lick Fingers - that white goo is so Yummy Wait for it to set, then cut up EAT!! Finish Product

Made sticky tape balls

With Inspiration coming from here Instructables Sticky Tape Ball we attempted at making our own sticky tape balls. Apart from thinking about the wastage (and tape isn't that cheap here in Australia) I was focusing on the fine motor skills tactile experience that it was giving (hopefully) my girls. They loved these things so much one of them even went to sleep with the ball!!
Start with Sticky Tape and a marble Wrap! and Wrap! Wrap! and Wrap! Keep wrapping Finished Product

Hope you enjoyed our "Sticky" Situations!!

I feel like I need to wash my hands after this post. I still heart the marshmellows. Yummy in some hot chocolate. The girls are so cute Bobbie. And you too.

If your girls every complain that you never do anything fun - have them read your blog if they don't already - I mean seriously!!!

Hi Bobbie,
we tried the marshmallow recipe here - i let it boil over, not once but twice - so I had a sticky mess to clean up, and only half the volume! thanks for the fun (and yummy) ideas!

Hello, I did homemade marshmallows with my kids this past winter and it was fun but we didn't make fun shapes (just squares). They were great in hot chocolate. For this project we made goop.

I love the heart-shaped marshmallows! And the sticky-tape balls are absolutely something I'd pull out to do on a rainy afternoon!

My step-mother makes homemade marshmallows and they are NOTHING like store bought ones. So yummy! A very good idea for sticky.

I have never seen those tape balls before. I am sure that my kids would love that too. They did enjoy working with the masking tape on our project. As you say though, with those balls I guess it is best not to think about the price of the tape!

Sorry my blog has been slow for you. I sent you an email about it. Thanks for sticking with it though!

The marshmallows look so good! I am always looking for dairy-free treats for the kids.

It looks like your girls had a lot of sticky fun.
