This weeks challange at Unplug your Kids was "STONE". Now, I am not being original and am doing stuff that is all over the net at the moment - HOT ROCKS by Wise Craft and NATURE STONES by Write Mama, Write
Living in the city, I found this challange a little difficult as their aren't too many rocks/stones lying around (that aren't in buildings or private property)
NATURE STONES
Find assorted things around the garden, Roll sculptey ( I used a cheap version air drying clay- it was printed in another language so I don't know what it was - but for the same price of 50g of Sculptey I got 300g!!)
Press items into the clay
Allow to dry (it can take a few days so we cheated and put them in the oven for a little while)
HOT ROCKS
Basically warm up rocks in your oven. Then draw on them with crayons. The crayon melts instantly and turns like paint on the rocks - it is very fun and addictive - we just need to find more stones - maybe I just need to buy some from a Garden Store.
Some finished rocks we used to decorate our Aloe Vera garden
Next weeks challenge: Glass Will have to start thinking!

These are great! I did get the craft done, but it was not as cute as yours. Will have to get more creative with glass! m
We've got sculpey in our nature craft drawer to do this exact same project to :) I love how they look when they're done!
Nature Mama
Great projects! I've wanted to do the hot rocks one with my daughter, but I'm afraid she's too little. Will have to remember it though.
What a fun project. I really like this. I think the girls for activity days would too. Thanks for the wonderful tips you put out.
The hot rocks look like great fun! Do you mush it around with your fingers?
I admire your unwillingness to let not having rocks available stop you from getting the project done!!
We have done hot rocks before and had fun with it, but we have a lot of rocks!!
I love the hot rocks idea. Definitely going to do that with my boys.
What cute stones. I am going to have to try that with my boys.
I love your ideas for the stone theme. I need to try the clay one with my kids.
Great idea - so cute!
how cute! Love those hot rocks-- I think I've seen that before somewhere but it never eve came to mind! Have to remember for a rainy day! :)
What a fun idea! I'm filing this away for future reference. ;)
Where do you get all your great ideas? I love all your suggestions for home made gifts and traditions. I'm going to use some of them. I think for Christmas I'm going to make some craft kits. My kids love to create, and don't play with a lot of toys anymore, so I think they would love craft kits, and making them would be so much more individual than the mass produced store ones.
How about back to school party/activity ideas? I'll steal your ideas. :) I love to see that your girls are as happy and full of life as I remember them. You're a great mum and an inspiration to me even though we only knew each other a short time.

We've done the sculpey project a couple of times with great results. I can't wait to try the hot rocks :)
Both of your projects are great and on my "to do" list. =)
That's funny that we did "hot rocks", too. :-) And, I love your nature stones! We'll have to try that one out.
