Advice needed - Bathroom

Now I like to believe my house is pretty neat.. I mean I spend most my day "tidying up" after the kids... I wash dishes, mop, vaccuum... but I am ready to admit that I am terrible at deep cleaning. Frumpy's comments about I am not the type of mum to stay home and scrub the corners totally agreeded with me.. I look at my corners and lament..but oh well, I am not going to sit there scrubbing them..

I think the thing I am worst at cleaning is the shower.. I do it.. but I am not good at it... How do you all do it??

Just this week I cleaned in two ways that I thought were funny, so I am going to share them :)

I never know how people scrub showers and the grout in the middle.. without getting water everywhere....it is a humid climate here so the mould grows in no time.. so you have to clean the shower often. Don't your clothes get wet?

Well this week I decided to shower while I scrubbed the grout with a toothbrush.. I got a less toxic cleaner and went to it.. I was in the shower for ages!! My husband laughed but I can't think of another way to do it - how do you wash the stuff off afterwards while you're clothed and got shoes on?

Then today I cleaned the other bathroom in high heels!! Yes I am serious... I thought I want to scrub and rinse the shower but I dont want my feet to get wet, or burnt by the bleach... so I give you...

fancy cleaning lady :)

So while I laughed to myself I thought I have got to post this cause surely there has to be easier ways to clean the shower :) Previously I just squirted bleach or domestos everywhere and just rinsed it off using the shower head but I don't think that is cutting it...

hence my new ways - I know you all want to copy it:)

That is exactly what my friend does. She cleans while taking a shower. It is brilliant. Love the heels.

Okay, I admit, I don't clean the shower....my husband does. It's one thing that I just don't do (the other thing is taking out the rubbish).

Hey, have you tied cleaning in swimmers and thongs? It'll be geting hot here soon so why not get cool and clean the shower at the same time?

ENJO. I give it to my three year old and she does the floor while we're in there...of course she draws all over it with her bath crayons first...but it gets the mould off too!

I have a plastic broom. I spray the shower then leave it for a few minutes then get my broom to scrub it (from the shower doorway). I let it soak again for a few minutes then rinse it off. Easy. Ofcourse, I have housekeeper here in Vienna...so no shower cleaning for 3 years. Life is hard!

Bobbie, you are too cool for words!! I've heard of several who clean the shower while in the shower - as for high heels, Ken had to have loved that!!

I clean Mine in thongs and use a window squeegy to scrub and a watering can to rinse to save a bit of water but I must admit I have trouble getting to clean our ensuite shower and when people come over I just shut the door but the boys work wonders on their shower with a toothbrush and scourer. Bribery always works. But the heels just adds glamor to house work. Fantastic

that is so cute! i ended up banishing a pair of terrible crocs i bought to being my shower cleaning shoes :-) I'm also at it with the toothbrush and rubber gloves to get all the icky bits. Why do we need tiles in a shower anyway....surely another type of material can be developed that is more cleaning friendly?

PS AM INCREDIBLY JEALOUS OF BINDI!

I often clean my shower while I am showering. It's just so conventient, I'm already in there! As for the mold in the grout, I say replace the tile! When we had tile, I would spray it with this great cleaner that was thick, and it would stick to the tile, and it was good at getting rid of the mold. Then I would use a combination of a toothbrush and a scrub brush, and just scrub and scrub. I always do it on Saturdays after I go running, so I have my grubby running clothes on, they go in the wash right after. I just do it barefoot, since I can reah most of the tub from the outside, and then I shower after doing it since I'm all sweaty. I'm afraid I don't have a magic solution. :) I know lots of my friends just wear their old, ratty clothes, then shower after doing the deep cleaning in the bathroom.

Loving the high heels ! What a great idea although potentially dangerous with slipping ! Definitely do not recommend you do that again ;)
Use thongs.. or get a shower saver installed. Hand held shower handle that attaches and detaches from a bar on the shower wall. We have that and its great I stand outside and clean!

I use Meleluca rather than bleach and it works a treat. Tub and Tile for the glass walls and floors and some solumel as well. I have a very clean shower. And No i do not sell it just buy it for me.. There is also another more natural range out there with some wicked colors and names for the cleaning gear.. Name escapes me atm.
I came across your blog via C jane enjoy it blog..
Funny how the world works how people are led to each other :)

I haven't tried it, but I read white vinegar does a great job on mould? I think you'd have to give it a good clean first, and then keep a spray bottle of vinegar handy - every time you finish in the shower/bath, give it a spray and leave it. No need to rinse it off as it's not going to hurt anyone and the smell goes once it dries.

I use vinegar in the kitchen.
